THE EIA JUST RAISED ITS FORECAST FOR RENEWABLE DIESEL AND BIODIESEL PRODUCTION
The U.S. Energy Information Administration released its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook on April 7 and increased its production forecasts for both renewable diesel and biodiesel in 2027. The forecast for other biofuels, including sustainable aviation fuel, was maintained.
OPTIMUS PARTNERS WITH SUNOIL BIODIESEL TO HELP UPGRADE TRUCK FLEETS TO RUN ON 100% BIODIESEL
Pittsburgh-based Optimus Technologies has partnered with Sunoil Biodiesel to bring 100% biodiesel to heavy-duty fleets in the Netherlands. It is another sign that global demand for UCO-based biodiesel is expanding, and that the feedstock supply chain connecting restaurants to refineries is becoming more valuable by the day.
DIAMOND GREEN DIESEL PLANT NOT AFFECTED BY TEXAS OIL REFINERY EXPLOSION
An explosion occurred on the evening of Monday, March 23, at a Valero refinery in Port Arthur, Texas. No injuries have been reported. Operations at the refinery and the adjacent renewable fuel facility have since resumed.
FutureFuel has restarted its 59 million gallon per year biodiesel plant in Arkansas after shutting down in mid-2025. Lower feedstock costs and improved 45Z tax credit clarity brought production back online. The biodiesel market may be turning a corner.
